NGAHERE HANGA

Welcome to the home of NGAHERE HANGA. The words come from the New Zealand Maori language, where Ngahere means "Forest", and Hanga means "Creation".

About the craftsman:
I was born and raised in beautiful Southland, New Zealand, where I was taught at an early age to appreciate the beauty in nature on our many outings to rivers, forests, and beaches.
I've always loved the "hands-on" approach to learning. After qualifying as a teacher I specialised in guiding my students to design and create projects they could be proud of. You could say that my affinity with the land and for creating things is in my blood. My ancenstral line proudly takes me back through several generations of exceptional craftspeople to Maori and Scottish roots.
All timber products are eco-friendly: made from either reused timbers, dead and storm-felled trees.
Thank you for your interest in my art. I hope you find what you are looking for. My very best wishes to you and your family... John
